南传佛教僧伽雨安居日 (Theravada Monks’ Rain Retreat)
一年一度的南传佛教僧伽雨安居日 (Vassa) 订于 2011 年 7 月16 日，星期六 在 慧根菩提苑 举办。今年有一位比丘僧慧者博士法师 在此苑过雨安居日精进修行弘扬佛法三个月至 2011 年 10 月 12 日为止。

The yearly Theravada Monks’ Rain Retreat (Vassa) commenced on 16 – 07 – 2011, Saturday and took place at Perlindungan Mahabodhi (Mahabodhi Sanctuary). This year there is one Theravada monk – Dr. Bhante Pannasami spending his three months’ Vassa at this Sanctuary till 12 – 10 – 2011.
All devotees are warmly welcome to join the Vassa Committee and give your full support to the monk’s daily needs during the duration of three months’ Vassa at this Lodge and at the same time to enhance your merit of offering. Sadhu ! 3x

The yearly Theravada Monks’ Rain Retreat (Vassa) commenced on 16 – 07 – 2011, Saturday and took place at Perlindungan Mahabodhi (Mahabodhi Sanctuary). This year there is one Theravada monk – Dr. Bhante Pannasami spending his three months’ Vassa at this Sanctuary till 12 – 10 – 2011.
All devotees are warmly welcome to join the Vassa Committee and give your full support to the monk’s daily needs during the duration of three months’ Vassa at this Lodge and at the same time to enhance your merit of offering. Sadhu ! 3x

放生還是放死？拒絕商業放生!!
台灣早期的廟宇，常會舉行放生活動，但不要以為這種儀式已經隨著時代改變消失！日前台灣動物社會研究會和國際人道協會（HIS）公布了台灣放生活動的調查，結果指出，現在的台灣，每年放生活動竟仍多達750次以上，換句話說，平均一天會舉行2.1次的放生活動！
你可能會想，「放生」就是要提醒大家懷著慈悲心腸，那麼又有什麼不好呢？原來放生活動早就已經淪為商業行為了，「放生」的商機大餅究竟有多驚人？台灣動物社會研究會訪查了全台2007座寺廟、團體，發現會舉辦放生活動的，大約有483家，放生動物數量高達2億隻，金額最少2億元！北中南三大鳥店集散區，100多家鳥店業者，超過6成專門販售放生動物！
簡單地說，許多野生的鳥類、烏龜、魚類等動物，本來在野外活得好好的，卻因為人們想要「放生」，而被獵人逮捕。捕捉、運送的過程中，動物們不但受到很大的驚嚇，可能受到虐待，甚至死亡！
另外，動物常被放生到不適宜的環境，例如若將生活在低海拔區域的鳥類，放生到高海拔地區，這麼一來，動物找不到食物，也適應不了環境，最後只有死亡。曾有保育團體在大規模放生後的幾天，在山區找到上百隻放生鳥的屍體！
如果釋放的是外來種生物，那更不妙！外來種動物不但會與原生種動物競爭，還可能帶有病菌，或與原生種動物雜交，現在台灣許多地方，就已經發現「雜種龜」了！
這樣究竟是「放生」還是「放死」？是「積德」還是「造孽」呢？
目前台灣對放生並沒有管理的法令，但如果放生的是「保育類動物」或「非身處於台灣動物」，農委會是可以依照法律開罰。
許多熱衷於放生的人，未必是沒有愛心......而是無知，不了解「放生」往往是「放死」，也對生態產生嚴重的衝擊。如果你身邊有人要參加放生活動，別忘了告訴他相關知識，也許你反而能因此拯救許多無辜的小生命呢！
